It’s Amazing

Seriously, I am still amazed by technology. I can remember thinking how cool it would be to someday have a phone I could take in the car with me. Then, when CD’s were released, I remember thinking how neat it would be if I could make my own CD’s, like I used to make mix tapes. I know this makes me sound old, but I promise there’s a point. I picked up a 42″ LCD TV a couple weeks ago, and it’s fabulous. Then, 2 weeks ago, I broke down and got a Nintendo Wii. Which I’m using, to type this update. I’m blogging, from my couch on a video game system. It’s still mind-blowing to me sometimes, and I can’t wait to see where we are 10 years from now, technology-wise.

In other news, I still have the cough from my Halloween bout with the crud. It’s only if I really exert myself, or when I’m outside and it’s really cold. Thankfully we haven’t had too many cold days, and hardly any snow. I could get used to this weather.

Zippy is fixed! I picked him up from the VW dealership the day before Thanksgiving. The coil packs were replaced under warranty, and I had to buy a new battery since mine wouldn’t hold a charge. The cam cover gasket was fixed in the garage for $23 total in parts, and I even replaced my windshield wiper! I still need new tires, an alignment, new brakes all around (pads and rotors,) a flex pipe and possibly an oxygen sensor. None of that stuff is huge, though, and I’m glad to have Zippy back. The bun warmers are especially nice when it’s in the 20’s and my butt hits the leather seat. I love my car.

I have the biggest cold sore of my life, and it’s pretty disgusting. Basically the center of my lower lip is covered with about 8 spots. I’m using Abreva, but since it’s 3 years expired I’m not holding out any hope of it working like it usually does. But, this is the first cold sore I’ve had in a couple years, so I shouldn’t complain too much.

I saw James last Wednesday and I can’t believe how big he’s getting. Brian and Stacey are moving to North Carolina, so James’ birthday is probably the last time I’ll see him in Ohio. The trip to NC should take about 9 hours from Cleveland, so that’s not too bad.

My Mom is having Christmas dinner since she doesn’t work, so I’ll drive down Christmas Eve to help with the oyster stuffing. I thought I was going to toast and tear up 10 loaves of bread, but it’s “only” 3-4 loaves of bread. I don’t mind too much, though, because the stuffing is ridiculously good.

I saw The Twilight Saga: New Moon on Thankgsgiving, and what a boring movie that was. I thought it was super-cheesy, and so predictable. I actually liked the first Twilight movie, but the second one wasn’t that good. The soundtrack is good, though, and that’s basically all New Moon was good for.

A couple good movies I’ve seen lately are Trick R Treat, Santa’s Slay, With You and the remake of The Last House On The Left. Halloween 2, the Rob Zombie version, was so bad I would have walked out of the theater had I not been there with Andi, my tattoo artist. Seriously, there are so many things wrong with it, I don’t even know where to begin. Michael Myers doesn’t grunt when killing, nor does he stab someone a billion times. That shows emotion; Michael Myers is devoid of emotion. The white horse bullshit was confusing and useless. Even the accident with the cow was overdone with gore and cussing. We get it, the guy says fuck. Christ on a cracker, that movie was bad.

My vacuum is broken. It sucks, but barely. Basically it makes a bigger mess than whatever I’m trying to clean up, and I’m so close to buying a Dyson vacuum. But I’m still not able to justify a $300 vacuum, even though I have pets and it would probably make cleaning a lot easier. I’ll keep my eyes out at Big Lots. They always have refurb Dysons for around $240; maybe they’ll go on sale for less than $200.

So that’s about it. Other than playing Wii and chasing the cats around the house, I haven’t been up to much. Consider yourselves updated.

Not Dead

Published by Lisa under general humdrum

So I’m not dead. I managed to survive the crud, and I’m left with a slight cough that gets worse when I ride my bike. Which I’m doing more of; it helps me sleep.

I’m trying to get a photo album set up on my website, but I’m not happy with the 3 included with my hosting package. One is alright except I can’t disable random photos/albums from displaying on the main page, one won’t render thumbnails and the other won’t allow bulk uploading. Meh, I guess I’ll get it figured out.

Speaking of photos, I’m having the Type O Negative photos from Halloween printed on Kodak Endura Metallic paper. From what I’ve seen on Google, this stuff is pretty awesome. I hope so, since it’s 30 cents extra, per photo. I’m starting with 4X6, and if they turn out well, I may go up to an 8X10. I’m using Meridian Pro for my important photos. Their free software is pretty badass, and their customer service is excellent as well. Shipping is a bit steep, but their regular print prices are reasonable, and you can get a basic, spiral-bound print book for $1.25. For someone just starting out, it’s great.

And now that it’s taken me over a half hour to write this tiny post, I’m off to watch a DVD then go to bed.
